Oreon E. Scott Foundation Grants

Each year, the Oreon E. Scott Foundation awards grants to Disciples ministries for the purpose of carrying out the church’s mission.

The grants continue the legacy of Mr. Scott (1871-1956) who was a St. Louis real estate professional and philanthropist dedicated to the mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Purpose of Grants

Oreon E. Scott grants are made to general ministries, regional ministries, and institutions of higher education affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to help carry out the mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) through leader development, congregation establishment and transformation, and becoming a pro-reconciling/anti-racist church. Grants are typically for a one-year time period; however, grants up to three years will be considered. Grants will not be made for capital projects. Grants typically do not exceed $15,000, and preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate financial commitment from the ministry applying for a grant.

Who can apply?

Eligibility for grants is limited to the following ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ):

• General ministries and racial/ethnic ministries
