Foundation Board Celebrates 60 Years of Ministry and Staff Promotions

The Christian Church Foundation Board of Directors gathered virtually at the beginning of November 2021 and had much to celebrate.

November 27, 2021, marks the 60th Anniversary of the Christian Church Foundation as an incorporated ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Staff and Board members reflected on the last 60 years and looked forward to the next 60 years of ministry. Staff member promotions, which will be effective January 1, 2022, were celebrated. Lori Lucas will be promoted to Senior Vice President, Sue Hansen to Vice President for Gift Administration, Joe Hartman to Vice President for Investment Services, and Bill Bauer to Director of Human Resources.

The Board thanked Mr. Gary Zimmerman, the National Benevolent Association’s Chief Financial Officer, for his years as the Board liaison from the NBA. Zimmerman plans to retire in January 2022. New members, Rev. Erin Dickey of Jacksonville, FL, Mr. Andrew Riester of Falls Church, VA, and Dr. JJ Santos of Erlanger, KY, were welcomed to the Board.

Finally, the Board recognized the incoming Chair, Rev. Joanne VerBurg, of Black Mountain, NC and recognized the outstanding service and commitment of outgoing Chair, Mr. Ted Waggoner, of Rochester, IN.

The Board hopes to be able to gather in person for their next meeting on April 24-26, 2022, in Indianapolis, IN.
