The Disciples Development Conference is the annual gathering of development officers, ministry leaders, and fundraising enthusiasts from congregations, regional ministries, higher education, general ministries, and ministry partners of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Networking, collaboration, and relationship building occurs throughout the conference where shared learning empowers mission and ministry.

Keynote Speaker: Phil Purcell

Phil Purcell currently serves as the director of planned giving for the central territory of the Salvation Army. Phil is an attorney and  member of the American and Indiana State Bar Associations. He has enjoyed a 30-year career in planned giving and as counsel to nonprofits. He has also served as director of gift planning for the Central Indiana Community Foundation; director of development and planned gifts for St. Vincent Hospital Foundation; and director of planned gifts and development counsel for Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Phil serves as vice chair of the American Bar Association’s Charitable Giving and Organizations Group and is a member of the Tax-Exempt Organization Advisory Council for the Internal Revenue Service (Great Lakes states). He is senior consultant and the lead planning attorney for the Heaton Smith Group, a national charitable and estate planning consulting firm. He is a legal advisor for the national Community Foundation Legal Help Desk. Phil teaches courses on law and philanthropy, nonprofit organization law, and planned giving as adjunct faculty for the Indiana University Maurer School of Law (Bloomington, IN) and Indiana University Lilly School of Philanthropy and Fundraising School (Indianapolis, IN).

The Disciples Development Conference will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn DFW South. Your room reservation includes breakfast. The hotel also offers a free shuttle from DFW Airport.
